Zubair M. Ahmed received his B.S. degree from Medical Laboratory Technology, The Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan, in 1995; M.S. degree from the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan, in 1998; Ph.D. degree from Molecular Genetics Department, National Centre for Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2002. His research training included being a Predoctoral Fellow of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics, National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), National Institutes of Health(NIH), Rockville, MD, USA (2000–2002); Postdoctoral Fellow (2002-2003); Research Fellow (2003–2009). He was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Divisions of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, Children’s Hospital Research Foundation and Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, USA, from 2009 to date. He has been serving as Adjunct Associate Professor at CEMB, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, from 2007 to date. From 2011 till now, he has been an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Institute of Biotechnology, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan. He received the NIH Fellow Award for Research Excellence in 2006 and 2007, respectively; Medal of Honor by the President of Pakistan in 2008; Career Development Award from Research to Prevent Blindness Foundation in 2010. He holds membership of many scientific societies: American Society of Human Genetics (from 2000 to date); The Association for Research in Otolaryngology (from 2004 to date); American Society of Cell Biology (2005-2006); Society for Neuroscience (2006–2009).
