Dong-ning Wang received the B.S. degree in telecommunications from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 1982, the M.B.A. degree from the University of Ulster, UK, in 1989, and the Ph.D. degree from City University, UK, in 1995. His Ph.D. research involved optical fiber sensors and white light interferometry. From 1996 to 1997, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Electronics, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, working in the field of optical short pulse generation. From 1997 to 1998, he worked in China Telecom Ltd. in Hong Kong, where he served as a Senior Telecommunication Engineer. Since 1998, he has joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His main research interests are femtosecond laser material processing, fiber lasers, optical fiber devices, optical fiber sensors, and photonics crystal fibers. He has more than 130 international journal publications.
