Ulf Yrlid was born in Lund, Sweden in 1971. He received a Master of Science in Biology and PhD a PhD degree in Immunology at Lund University, in 1994 and 2001, respectively. He was then awarded a Wellcome Trust Travelling Fellowship and made a post doc in Doctor Gordon MacPherson’s lab at Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford, Great Britain 2001-2005. After a second post doc in Professor Jan Holmgren’s lab at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden he was awarded a Research Assistant position by the Swedish Research Council in 2007. He is now running his own research group at the Dept. of Microbiology and Immunology at the Institute Biomedicine, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. He is a member of the Mucosal and Immunobiology Vaccine Center at Gothenburg University. He is mainly interested in understanding the interplay between epithelial cells and migrating intestinal dendritic cells in order to improve mucosal adjuvants and vaccines.
