Fumi Kano received her Ph.D. degree in biology from Kyoto University, Japan, in 2002. She was a research fellow (DC1) of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) in 1999 -2002. She spent postdoctoral period at National Institute for Physiological Sciences, Okazaki, Japan, in 2002-2003 as a research fellow of JSPS (PD). In 2003, she joined the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo, Japan, and is presently an assistant professor. In 2007-2011, she was concurrently a research scientist of PRESTO, Japan Science and Technology Agency, Saitama, Japan. She is interested in the reconstitution of biological processes, and continues to apply the technique for the study in the organelle dynamics and the intracellular vesicular transport.
