Qaisar Mahmood received the Ph.D. degree in environmental engineering from the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2007. He was associated with Federal Ministry of Education during 1996-2008. In November 2008, he joined the Department of Environmental Sciences as an Assistant Professor at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad, Pakistan. Dr. Mahmood was promoted to be an Associate Professor in August 2011. He was a Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Kentucky, during 2012-13. He is the author of more than 160 refereed publications. His research interests include bioremediation, denitrification, anaerobic wastewater treatment, and biofuels. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the BioMed Research International. In addition he serves as reviewer of more than 20 refereed research journals. Dr. Mahmood received the 4th highest civil award of Pakistan Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) for his national services in the field of environmental sciences discipline, the Best University Teacher Award at the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in 2009, and won Merit Scholarship for the PhD studies in China.
