EDUCATION EXPERIENCES: - Since 2005, Dr. Iiritano has joint the research team of Dr. Antonio Brunetti at the University “Magna Graecia” of Catanzaro. Dr. Iiritano is also involved in studies on HMGA1 gene variants in patients with glucose metabolism disorders. - From 2006 to 2010, she performed counseling and molecular diagnosis of genetic diseases at the Genetic Pathology Unit, "Mater Domini" Hospital, Catanzaro. - Experience in preparation of karyotype by peripheral blood. TECHNICAL COMPETENCES: Molecular biology: Experience with major biomolecular methods for the isolation and purification of nucleic acids (DNA/RNA), extraction of mRNA from tissues, PCR, RT-PCR, cell culture, transient transfection by chemical and physical methods, protein extraction from cultured cells and tissues, visualization of proteins and nucleic acids using electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE and western blotting), EMSA, bacterial cultures, preparation and processing of competent bacteria for cloning plasmids, chromatin immunoprecipitation, studies of protein-protein interactions by GST pull-down and coimmunoprecipitation, gene silencing by siRNA methods and shRNA, hormonal assays using ELISA and RIA method, reverse dot-blot, and cytogenetic karyotype preparation from peripheral blood. Informatic skills: MS-DOS, MS-Widows 95/98/XP, Mac OSX, MS-Office, bioinformatic softwares for gene finding and validation, evolution and molecular “folding” (Blast, Fasta, ClustalW etc), Photoshop and CorelDraw, MS Office and softwares for the quantitative image analysis (eg Scion Image).
