Suryanarayana V. Vulimiri was born in Parvatipuram, Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1960. He received the B.V.S. and M.V.S. degrees from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Hyderabad, India in 1983 and 1985, respectively. Further, Dr. Vulimiri received his Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 1993. He obtained his postdoctoral training at Dr. Kurt Randerath’s laboratory at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Tex, USA (1991–1995). Since 1995, Vulimiri has worked in the positions of Research Associate and Research Assistant Professor at the laboratory of Dr. John DiGiovanni at the Science Park-Research Division of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Smithville, Tex, USA. Dr. Vulimiri also worked as a Toxicologist at A. W. Spears Research Center, Greensboro, NC, USA from 2002 to 2008. Presently, he works as a Biologist at the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) in the Office of Research and Development (ORD) under the National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA). He is mainly involved in the human health risk assessment of chemicals of environmental concern focusing on genetic toxicology/chemical carcinogenesis and has been a cochemical manager. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) since 2007. He has published 25 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters and has served as a presenter at national and international meetings. Dr. Vulimiri has been a Member of the Society of Toxicology and the Environmental Mutagen Society. He has been on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biochemical & Microbiological Technology and has been a Reviewer of journals such as Chemical Research in Toxicology, Toxicological Sciences, Carcinogenesis, and Toxicology Letters.
