Ivana Pela

Ivana Pela was born in Pizzoli, L'Aquila, Italy on 18 September 1950. Since 1955, she lives in Florence, where she followed all courses of studies from primary school until her degree in medicine and surgery taken with magna cum laude in 1975. Then, from 1975 to 1978, she attended the course of pediatric sciences and, from 1979 to 1982, the course of nephrology, achieving the degree certificates with magna cum laude in both cases. She entered the Meyer Children's Hospital in 1982, as Medical Assistant and later as Head of pediatric clinic. In the meantime, she founded the "Service of Pediatric Nephrology and Dialysis." In 1994, she took up a position as Associate Professor of pediatrics at the University of Florence. She is author of about 80 scientific articles. She is a member of Italian Society of Pediatrics and of Italian Society of Pediatric Nephrology. She works as a Professor of pediatric nephrology of the course of pediatric sciences at the University of Florence and at the University of Siena.
