Nikolai Boshkov was born in May 22, 1958, in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1998, he received a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS); and in 1979–1984, a Ch.E. degree from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM). From 1972 to 1977, he studied German Gymnasium at Sofia. In 2005, he served as the Head of the Department of Electrochemically Obtained Materials and Corrosion Processes, IPC, BAS; in 2004, an Associate Professor at IPC; in 1990, a Specialist at IPC; in 1986, a Scientific Researcher at the Institute of Metal Prevention, Sofia. His fields of interest include characterization of materials: electrodeposition of metals and alloys; composite and nanocomposite systems; anodic behavior and passive state of metallic materials; multilayer systems; supervisor of student diploma theses. He authored and coauthored more than 60 scientific publications in journals and at conferences. He also served as a reviewer in domestic and international journals. He serves as a Member of the International Society of Electrochemistry; a Member of the American Nano Society; a Member of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences. In 1984, he received an Honorable Sign of UCTM, Sofia; in 1984, an Honorable Diploma of UCTM, Sofia.
