Mihalis Vrekoussis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1977. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Crete, Crete, Greece, in 1999. In 2002 and 2005, he received an M.S. degree and Ph.D. degrees in environmental and analytical chemistry from the same university. Since 2012, he works as a Senior Research Scientist in the Environmental Energy, Environment and Water Research Center of the Cyprus Institute. He also serves as a Research Scientist for the Research Centre for Atmospheric Physics and Climatology of the Academy of Athens and the Institute of Environmental Physics and Remote Sensing of the University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany. Vrekoussis's main scientific interests are related to atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, radical measurements (e.g., NO3 and ROX radicals), remote sensing, physical and chemical properties of aerosols and radiative forcing, insights into the sulphur and nitrogen cycles, trace gases detection, climatology and chemical interactions in the atmosphere, photochemical studies, and validation of model simulations.
