Wei Guan received his M.S. degree and Ph.D. in systems engineering from the Tianjin University, China, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. Since 1999, Guan has been serving as an Associate Professor at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU), China, and was promoted to Professor in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed as the Vice Dean for School of Traffic and Transportation of BJTU. His research fields include systems engineering, intelligent transportation systems, traffic flow theory, and traffic simulation. He has undertaken more than 30 projects concerned with intelligent transportation system and transportation simulation at Ministry of Science and Technology, EU-China Cooperative Planning, Nature and Science Foundation in China, and so on. He has published more than 140 journals or conference papers in the fields of transportation and simulation. He is currently serving as the Associate Editor for Journal of Transportation Systems Engineering and Information Technology, Journal of Traffic Safety; he is a Senior Member of China Intelligent Transportation Association.
