Giorgio Brunialti is a Biologist, graduated from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 1998, attaining a Ph.D. degree at the University of Siena, Siena, Italy, discussing a thesis in the effects of forest management on lichen communities. He is mainly interested in environmental monitoring by means of indicator species. Since 2007, he has been an Expert Member of the Working Group CEN TC 264 Biomonitoring with Mosses and Lichens dealing with the standardisation of biomonitoring methods in the field of air quality. On methodological aspects, his research focuses on quality assurance procedures in environmental monitoring and on the influence of environmental variables on biodiversity and lichen biology. He is currently a Member of the Editorial Board of Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, International Journal of Biodiversity, Dataset Papers in Atmospheric Sciences, and ISRN Ecology.
