Thomas Benke was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1952. He recieved an M.D. degree, and currently he is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Cognitive Neurology and Neuropsychology at AO University. Benke was appointed as an Assistant at the Pharmacological Institute, University Vienna, from 1978 to 1979. Since 1980, he works at the Clinic of Neurology Innsbruck. In 1985, Benke became a Research Fellow at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, UK, and in ON, Canada. His research interests include clinical neuropsychology, neurolinguistics, functional anatomy of the brain, epilepsy, neurological rehabilitation, dementia research, and memory clinic issues. He published more than 120 articles. Thomas teaches medical students and therapists and gives postgraduate courses.
