Arianna Tavanti obtained a B.S. degree in biology with honors and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 1995 and 2003, respectively. From January 2003 to July 2004, she was appointed as Postdoc Research Fellow at the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Aberdeen, Scotland. In November 2004, she was awarded with the title of Specialist in clinical pathology from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy. In 2006, she was appointed as Lecturer and Permanent Member of the Research Staff at the Department of Biology, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy. She lectures in “microbial biotechnologies” for the Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology degree and in medical mycology at the Microbiology and Virology Specialization School, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy. Tavanti’s scientific activity is documented by international publications that are mainly focused on the analysis of Candida virulence factors, Candida genotyping, epidemiology, and the characterization of Candida parapsilosis, Candida orthopsilosis, and Candida metapsilosis. She is a Member of the Editorial Board of ISRN Microbiology and Microbiology Discovery. She is a Reviewer for European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and Plos One.
