Shafiqur Rehman is a research engineer-II (Associate Professor) at the Center for Engineering Research, Research Institute, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. He obtained his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Zakir Husian College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India, in 1981, and M.S. degree from KFUPM in 1985. His research interests include solar, wind, and geothermal energy resources assessment and related power plant design, compressible fluid flow, gas dynamics, radar communication, global warming, and surface and upper air meteorology. He has published and presented more than 100 research papers in international journals and conferences. Rehman was awarded the Distinguished Researchers Award by the university for his contribution in the areas of wind and solar energy in 2007. He has completed 40 client-funded applied research projects and has written more than 70 technical project reports. He is a Board Member of the International Journal of Renewable Energy Technology and a reviewer of around 10 journals of international repute. Rehman is a Member of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) and a Life Member of the Solar Energy Society of India (SEI) and Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Saudi Environment Society (SES), and so forth.
