Jörg Krüger received his Diploma in physics from the Friedrich-Schiller-University, Jena, Germany, and his doctoral degree from the Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus, Germany. In 1991 he joined the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing in Berlin, Germany. He currently heads the project group for Short Pulse Laser Technology of the Division 6.4 Nanomaterial Technologies at BAM. His research interests include ultrashort pulse laser materials processing on the micrometer and nanometer scale, laser-induced damage of optical components, laser cleaning of works of art, and laser safety issues.
