Rongchang Zeng worked as a Senior Corrosion Engineer at China Petrochemical Corporation (SINOPEC) from 1990 to 2000. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Metals Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2003. He severed as a Professor at Chongqing University of Technology during 2003–2010. Among this period, he worked as a Visiting Scientist at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG) Center for Materials and Coastal Research in Germany for one year. Now he is a Professor at Shandong University of Science and Technology in China. His research interests are in the area of corrosion and protection of materials, particularly the studies of corrosion mechanism, surface modification, and fatigue and stress corrosion cracking of magnesium alloys. His current interest is focused on the research of magnesium alloys as biomaterials. He is the reviewer of a dozen of international materials journals such as Corrosion Science.
