Regina Schulte-Ladbeck

Regina Schulte-Ladbeck studied at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, from which she received her undergraduate degree in physics and her graduate degree in astronomy. She has worked as a Research Associate at the Landessternwarte Heidelberg, and as a Scientist at Washburn Observatory and the Space Astronomy Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin. She is a Member of the Astro-1 and Astro-2 payload operations teams; she was awarded NASA Group Achievement Awards in 1992 and 1996. Dr. Schulte-Ladbeck has served as Chair of the German-Spanish Observatory's time allocation committee, and as the Chair of the external committee of the Landessternwarte Tautenburg in Germany. Among her many services for the space sciences community, she completed two terms as member of the Hubble Space Telescope User's Committee. Dr. Schulte-Ladbeck has been a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh since 1991, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in astronomy and astrophysics. She developed the course “Basics of Spaceflight”, the minor in physics, and the certificate in leadership. In 2007, Dr. Schulte-Ladbeck completed a term as an Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies for the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Schulte-Ladbeck is an avid rock climber.
