Janusz K. Rybakowski
Janusz K. Rybakowski was born in Krotoszyn, Poland, in 1946. He graduated in 1969 at the Medical Academy in Poznan, Poland. From 1976 to 1977, he was the NIH Fogarty Research Fellow at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. From 1985 to 1995, he was the Chairman at the Department of Psychiatry, Medical Academy in Bydgoszcz. Since 1994, he has been a Professor and the Head of the Department of Adult Psychiatry, University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. Rybakowski is an author of over 500 publications on psychopharmacology, neurobiology, and clinical psychiatry, mainly published in international journals. He is the President of the Editorial Board of the main Polish psychiatric journal Psychiatria Polska and the Chief Editor of Farmakoterapia w Psychiatrii i Neurologii (pharmacotherapy in psychiatry and neurology) and Neuropsychiatria i Neuropsychologia (neuropsychiatry and neuropsychology). He is currently a Field Editor of the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry and a Member of the Editorial Boards of Neuropsychobiology, Bipolar Disorders, Pharmacopsychiatry, International Journal of Psychiatry in Clinical Practice, and Cardiovascular Psychiatry and Neurology. Moreover, he was the President of the Polish Psychiatric Association from 1998 to 2001 and a Board Member of the Association of European Psychiatrists from 1998 to 2004. Currently, he is a Member of Neurobiology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, International Committee of the International Neuropsychiatric Association, New York Academy of Sciences, ECNP, CINP, Society of Biological Psychiatry, International Society of Psychiatric Genetics, International Society of Affective Disorders, International Group for the Study of Lithium-Treated Patients (IGSL), and the European Group for the Research in Schizophrenia (EGRIS). From 2003 to 2006, he served in the Board of Councillors, International Society of Bipolar Disorders.
