Erika Ottaviano was born in 1973. She received an M.S. degree (summa cum laude) in 1998 and a Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering in February 2002 at the University of Cassino, Cassino, Italy. Since 2002 she works as an assistant professor of mechanics for machines and mechanical systems. She teaches since 2002/2003. Ottaviano is an Editor since 2012 for the International Journal of Imaging and Robotics. She is Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, INTECH Open Access Publisher, since 2011. She is Member of the Scientific Committee for the University Research and Development Center for Disabled People at the University of Cassino since 2010. Ottaviano got the Best Paper Award in Robotics at CIM dell'IEEE-TTTC International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 2006; Best Paper Award at the International Symposium on Multibody Systems and Mechatronics, San Juan, Argentina, 2008; and grants by Young Delegate IFToMM Award for the years 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2007. She is reviewer for many international journals such as IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics. Her research interests are mechanics, robotics, mechatronics, and mechanical design. Ottaviano is the author or coauthor of more than 150 published papers.
