Joël P. Grillasca

Joël P. Grillasca was born in Marseille (France) in 1968. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry in 1997 and his accreditation to supervise research in 2001. Since 2008, he has been a Full Professor at the University of the South, Toulon-Var. From 2009 to 2011, he was the Vice President of the university, with responsibility for research. Grillasca is an expert in molecular biology, genetics, and marine biology, and he is the Head of the Marine Molecular Biology Team (EB2M) which he founded in 2001. Through the expression and structure of the genome, Grillasca aims at understanding the impact of pollution on the sex differentiation and sex determination in fish. In 2003, he was nominated for the Prize of the Young Team at the 3rd Festival of Science, and, in 1998, he was awarded recipient of the National Academy of Medicine Price of clinical and biological research on human nutrition.
