Amr Ahmed
Amr Ahmed is a Lecturer in the Department of Computing and Informatics, within the Faculty of Technology, the University of Lincoln. His research interests include (but not limited to) virtual humans, 3D computer graphics and animation, computer vision, video processing, scene understanding, video abstraction, and handwriting recognition. The long-term aim is to provide easy and intuitive interaction with computing technologies and allow the technology to be easily and transparently embedded and used within the society and every day life. Before joining the University of Lincoln, Amr has been involved (as a Research Fellow) in an EPSRC research project focused on video evidence indexing and recovery (REVEAL). And just before that he has been working as a Research Scientist at SHARP Laboratories of Europe (SLE at Oxford), researching in a video processing and developing video shot-boundary detection. Amr has also worked for few years as a Software Engineer in industrial consultancy companies abroad, designing and developing databases (Oracle). Amr was awarded his Ph.D. degree in 2004 from the University of Surrey, for his research in 3D computer graphics and human animation. Before that, his M.S. (1998) research focused on the online handwriting recognition. Amr received his B.S. (honors) in electrical and electronics engineering (computer and systems engineering) from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1993.
