Pasquale Striano got his M.D. degree in medicine and surgery with honors at the University of Naples, Italy, in 1999. Since 2010 until now, he has been a Research Associate in the University of Genova, Pediatric Neurology and Muscular Diseases Unit, and in the University of Genoa, "G. Gaslini" Institute, Genova, Italy. From 2007 to 2009, Striano gained his Postdoctorate in neuroscience at Gaslini Institute, Genova, Italy. He received the Muscular and Neurodegenerative Disease Unit Fellowship, G. Gaslini Institute, Genova, Italy, from 2005 to 2006. And from 2004 to 2008, he was a Ph.D. student at Epilepsy Center, Federico II University, Napoli. In 2004, Striano gained a nervous and mental diseases specialty with honors at the University of Naples, Italy. Dr. Striano is a Member of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), a Member of the Italian League Against Epilepsy (LICE), a Member of the Italian League of Paediatric Neurology (SIP), and a Member of the Italian Neurology Association (SIN). He is, furthermore, a Member of the Editorial Board of Epilepsia, The Open Neurosurgery Journal, and the World Journal of Neurology as well as a Referee for NEJM, Lancet Neurology, Nature Clinical Practice, Brain, Epilepsia, Epilepsy Research, Expert Review of Pharmacotherapeutics, Journal of Neurological Sciences, Seizure, and others. His areas of expertise are the following: the molecular genetics of idiopathic epilepsies with a special interest in structural genomic variation and genotype-phenotype relationships, the important role in the recruitment and the genetic analysis of the EPICURE sample, the clinical electrophysiology of myoclonic epilepsies, and the new therapeutic strategies in drug-resistant epilepsies.
