Jiri Dohnal serves as Vice Dean for research and foreign affairs at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Brno, Czech Republic since 2007. He works also as a Head of Institute of Applied Pharmacy. His lectures include quality control, analytical chemistry I and III and pharmaceutical analysis in industry. In the last 3 years, he served as a Head of Department for Research and Methodological Development, Zentiva k.s. (part of Sanofi-Aventis). In the last 7 years, he worked as the CEO and Managing Director of Institute for Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Prague, Czech Republic and his main responsibilities were organization of research and development of drugs. From 1975 to 1980, he received Dipl. Ing. degree in physical organic chemistry from Chemical-Technological University. From 2004 – 2006, he received his M.B.A degree from Nottingham Trent University, BIBS, Brno, Czech Republic. His main fields of interest are development and implementation of analytical methods, particularly methods of solid state analysis (ss NMR, XRPD, SEM, THz spectroscopy etc.); electromigration separation techniques and special dissolution apparatuses (he is the leader of the winning project in the category "Technology & Process", 2011 Industrial Innovation Awards, Sanofi); polymorphism, morphology, IVIV correlations, process analytical technology (PAT), and so forth.
