Ram J. Singh is an Agronomist in soybean cytogenetics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill, USA since 1986. He received his B.S. degree in agriculture from the Government Agricultural College, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India in 1966, his M.S. degree in agricultural botany from the same college in 1968, and his Ph.D. degree in genetics from the Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo, USA in 1974. He was awarded the Academic Professional Award for Excellence: Innovative & Creativity, 2000, the Academic Professional Award for Excellence, 2007, the College of ACES Professional Staff Award for Excellence—Research, 2009, and The Illinois Soybean Association’s Excellence in Soybean Research Award, 2010. Singh is Chief Editor of the International Journal of Applied Agricultural Research (www.ripublication.com/ijaar.htm) and Editor of the Plant Breeding (http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/editors.asp?ref=0179-9541&site=1). His research interests are germplasm maintenance, plant cytogenetics, plant genome mapping, genomics, plant breeding, biosystematics, wide hybridization, cell and tissue culture, plant genetic transformation, and plant molecular cytogenetics. His contribution to publication includes 8 books, 17 chapters in books, 48 abstracts, 33 newsletter, and 71 research publications.
