Wen-Jinn Liaw has M.D. and Ph.D. degrees and serves as a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, Tri-Service General Hospital, National Defense Medical Center. He finished his M.D. degree in 1987 and completed his Ph.D. degree in 1998 from the National Defense Medical Center, Taipei, Taiwan. He served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2002 to 2003. Liaw is not only specialized as an anesthesiologist but also an intensivist and instructor of critical care medicine. He acts currently as an Associate Editor of Acta Anaesthesiologica Taiwanica and serves at the Editorial Boards of ISRN Anesthesiology, World Journal of Anesthesiology, World Journal of Critical Care Medicine, and Anesthesiology of Dataset Papers in Medicine. He has more than 70 publications of original articles, case reports, and review papers being published in peer-reviewed journals covering research fields of anesthesiology, critical care, pharmacology, neuroscience, and pain Medicine. He has been invited to be a reviewer for 16 English peer-reviewed journals, for instance, the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, Pharmacological Research, Journal of Critical Care, British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, and Journal of Proteome Research et al. He acts also as a Research Grant Reviewer of the National Science Council (NSC), R.O.C. His main research interests are sepsis therapy, pharmacology, and pain medicine. He currently serves at the Executive Board of Taiwan Society of Anesthesiologists and Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine and as a Supervisor of the Society of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
