M. Venkat Ratnam

M. Venkat Ratnam, after joining as a Scientist at National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) Department of Space, India, a world-class center of excellence, has been carried out research in front-line areas of atmospheric sciences and radar technology. Prior to the assignment as Scientist at NARL, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow, Scientist, and Visiting Scientist at Taiwan, Germany, and Japan, respectively (2001-2006). He has carried out several research projects sponsored by the Indian government funding agencies like ISRO and DST. He has published more than 60 research papers, in very short time, in highly reputed international journals. 5 Students were awarded Ph.D. degrees under his research supervision. In recognition of his scientific contributions, he has received several awards including prestigious Japan Society for Promotion of sciences award, the Best Paper Award at several national and international conference/workshops, and NASI-SCOPUS Young Scientist Award in 2010 in Earth Sciences. He is a Life Member of several prestigious societies like IETE, India Meteorological Society, and American Geophysical Union. He is a Member of several high level scientific and technical committees at the national and international levels. He has visited several countries including Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, and UK on various academic and scientific assignments such as being a Visiting Scientist.
