Vesselin Dimitrov

Vesselin Dimitrov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1948. He received the Ch.E. degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Higher Institute of Chemical Technology, Sofia in 1972 and 1979, respectively. From 1980 to 1990, he was a Research Fellow at the Department of Silicate Technology, Higher Institute of Chemical Technology, Sofia. From 1990 to 1995, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Silicate Technology, Higher Institute of Chemical Technology, Sofia. From 1995 to 1997, he served as an Associate Professor at the Department of Silicate Technology, Higher Institute of Chemical Technology, Sofia. In addition, from 1997 to 1999, he worked as an Associate Professor at Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan. From 1999 to 2009, he served as an Associate Professor at the Department of Silicate Technology, University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia. He received the D.S. degree in 2009. Moreover, he received JSPS Fellowship for research in Japan in 1991, 2004, and 2009 (host scientists: Professor Sumio Sakka and Professor Takayuki Komatsu). Presently, he works as a Professor at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia. He is mainly interested in glass science: structure, crystal products, IR-spectroscopy, XPS spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, electronic ion polarizability, optical basicity, and linear and nonlinear optical properties.
