Tomasz Zatoński

Tomasz Zatoński obtained his M.D. degree in 1997, became a specialist in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery in 2004, and received the Ph.D. degree with a thesis entitled “Flow cytometric analysis of DNA ploidy in laryngeal cancer” in 2001 from the Wroclaw Medical University, Wroclaw, Poland. From 1997 to 1999, he was a Junior Assistant at the Wroclaw Medical University, Wroclaw, Poland. From 1999 to 2004, he was an Assistant at the Wroclaw Medical University, Wroclaw, Poland, and since 2004 he has been an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Otolaryngology, Wroclaw Medical University, Wroclaw, Poland. He is a Member of the Polish Society of Otolaryngologists Head and Neck Surgeons and a Reviewer for The Laryngoscope journal. He gave seminars and courses in otolaryngology to students of the sixth year of medicine and to the general practice and ENT physicians. He has also taught the 4th international course in facial nerve intraoperative monitoring on November 12 and 13, 2012, in Paris, France. He was awarded the Team Award of the Minister of Health for a series of seven publications on the genetic basis of cancer of the larynx in 2005. His research interests are the role of HPV infection in head and neck cancer, head and neck surgical oncology, endolaryngeal microsurgery of the larynx, tumors markers, and mechanisms of carcinogenesis.
