Antonieta Garcia Murillo

Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico

Antonieta Garcia Murillo has a Ph.D. degree in materials science from Université Claude Bernard (Lyon I), Lyon, France. She works as a Research Professor for Particles Technology at CIITEC, National Polytechnique Institute (IPN), Research National System SNI 2. Her areas of expertise have been developed in the Engineering Group and Materials Processing, at Research and Technology Innovation Center (IPN), focusing on the following main research themes: synthesis and characterization of various metal and oxide nanostructured materials (pure and doped with rare earths ions) like Gd2O3, Lu2O3, TiO2, ZrO2, Y2O3, YAG, BaTiO3 for photocatalysis, waveguides, protecting films, and luminescent applications. She is an expert in the preparation of nanostructured materials by sol-gel and hydrothermal synthesis (nanopowders and thin films). She worked with sol-gel powders and films preparation by "dip-coating" technique for more than 10 years. She has also worked with various structural analyses and characterization techniques like XRD, FTIR, SEM, AFM, TEM, Raman diffusion, "m-lines" spectroscopy", PL, etc.
