Sambasivarao Kotha

Sambasivarao Kotha was born in Amarthalur, AP (India). He obtained his Ph.D. in 1985 under the supervision of Professor G. Mehta at the University of Hyderabad. After spending some time in the U.K. and in the U.S.A., he joined the Indian Institute of Technology–Bombay (IIT-Bombay) in 1994 as an assistant professor and was promoted to Professor in 2001. He was a recipient of the B. M. Birla prize in Chemical Sciences (1996), the Professor N. S. Narasimhan endowment award (2000), CRSI bronze medal (2004) and Bhagyatara National Award (2006). He is a member of the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Chemistry, Section B,and the Journal of Chemical Sciences of the Indian Academy of Sciences. He has also been elected as a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences. During the last six consecutive years, several articles from his group have appeared on most accessed/most cited lists. His current research interests include organic syntheses and the development of new synthetic methods.
