Chenming (Mike) Zhang

Chenming Zhang was born in Jincheng City in Shanxi Province, China. He received the B.S. degree in metallurgical physical chemistry from University of Science and Technology Beijing, China, in 1986, the M.S. degree in physical and analytical chemistry, and the Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA, in 1996 and 1999, respectively. From 1999 to 2001, he worked as a Scientist in purification development at Covance Biotechnology Services, Inc., Cary, NC, USA. He served as an Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech from 2001 to 2007 and as an Associate Professor since 2007. He is mainly interested in protein purification and characterization, development of vaccines against various infectious diseases, and use of nanoparticles for drug delivery. He serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Biological Engineering Transaction published by American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers since 2006.
