Mohamed Bouazaoui

Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille, France

Mohamed Bouazaoui was born in Meknes, Morocco, in 1964. He received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University Lyon 1, Lyon, France, in 1990. He is mainly interested in optical materials (development of the sol-gel process for the achievement of nanoporous materials and high-purity glasses) and new optical components and devices. He is responsible of the photonics research group of the Laboratory for the Physics of Lasers, Atoms, and Molecules, Lille 1 University, Lille, France. The research activities of the photonics group concern the development of new optical fibers aiming to control the properties of guided light. These activities are organized in four main axes: the development of new materials, the study and the realization of new microstructured and photonic crystal fibers, modeling of micro- and nanostructures, and applications of the photonic crystal fibers in the areas of telecommunications, sensors, new light sources, and biology.
