Nicolo Scuderi

Nicolò Scuderi was born in Catania in November 1, 1947. He graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Bari, Bari, Italy, in 1971. He then specialised in plastic surgery at the University of Torino. He worked as an Ordinary Assistant from 1971 to 1975 at the Universities of Bari, Catania, and Sassari. From 1975 to 1980, he became an Associate Professor of plastic surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sassari. From November 1, 1981 to November 1, 1986, he was called to direct the Faculty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the University Federico II of Naples. He has been a Secretary, a Treasurer, and the Chairman of the Società Italiana di Chirurgia Plastica, Ricostruttiva ed Estetica (the Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery). For 8 years, from 1993 to 2001, he was a Member of the Executive Committee of the European Section of IPRAS, covering the roles of the Coordinator of the European Confederation of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has operated in all fields of plastic surgery and completed more than 15 000 operations in total. He has directed the Faculty of Plastic Surgery of the University of Rome La Sapienza. He has described original surgical techniques to correct hypospadia, in the field of plastic eye-eyelid plastic surgery and other fields.
