Roberto Gómez was born in Elche, Spain in 1967. He received the Chemistry degree (summa cum laude) and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Alicante, Spain, in 1990 and 1994, respectively. In 1994, he received a Fulbright fellowship to perform a postdoctoral stay at the Laboratory of Professor Michael J. Weaver in Purdue University. He came back to the University of Alicante in 1995 as an Assistant Professor first and as an Associate Professor since 1999. He leads the Group of Photochemistry and Electrochemistry of Semiconductors. He has been working as a Visiting Researcher at the Laboratoire de Bellevue (C.N.R.S., France), Cornell University (USA), the University of Bath (UK) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (USA). He is interested in several aspects of the electrochemistry of semiconductors ranging from the behavior of nanostructured oxides to the preparation and characterization of photoelectrochemical solar cells. He has also experience in electrocatalysis with single crystal metal electrodes and in the application of in situ vibrational and UV-vis spectroscopies in electrochemistry. He has published around 100 papers in scientific journals. He is a Member of the Institute of Electrochemistry of the University of Alicante.
