Athanasios Alexiou

Athanasios Alexiou is a Mathematician with a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics algorithms and mathematical modeling in biology. Nowadays, he cooperates with the Lonian University at the Department of Informatics, Corfu, Greece, as a Postdoc Fellow in the Computational Modeling Laboratory and in the Bioinformatics and Human Electrophysiology Laboratory. His main research interests concern protocols for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease associated with mitochondrial dysfunctions and control mild cognitive disorder, expert decision making systems for diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, the relation between mitochondrial abnormalities and cancer, the mathematical modeling of cell ion channels, mitochondrial motility, and RNA closed secondary structures. He is also interested in bioethics and the alternative expression of biological knowledge through BioArt creations.
