Supported by a national grant delivered by the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique (F.R.S.-FNRS), he received the Ph.D. degree in applied sciences in 2007 from the same university for his research which focused on the realization of mechanical and chemical sensors based on the use of fiber Bragg gratings. He is coauthor of 3 book chapters and about 130 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is also coauthor of three international patents regarding the development of innovative fiber Bragg gratings sensors. He is a Reviewer for the IEEE, OSA, and Elsevier journals. Dr. Caucheteur was elected Chairman of the IEEE/Photonics Society Benelux Student Chapter, from December 2006 to June 2007. He has been a Member of the technical program committee of the "Subcommittee 1: Passive Components and Fiber-Based Devices" of Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP) since 2009 and Reviewer for the International Symposium on Optical Engineering and Photonic Technology (OEPT) since 2010.
