Tooru Mizuno is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physiology at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Dr. Mizuno received his Ph.D. degree with the study examining age-associated impairments in neurotransmitter release and neuroendocrine function from the Yokohama City University in Japan. He received postdoctoral training in neuroendocrinology and neurobiology of obesity at the Department of Neurobiology, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, followed by the Division of Endocrinology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. He was Canada Research Chair in Molecular Endocrinology of Diabetes and Metabolic Control from 2004 to 2009. His research involves clarifying physiological mechanisms that lead to metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes.
