Abebaw Yohannes received his Ph.D. degree in geriatric medicine from the University of Manchester, UK (2002) and M.S. degree in geriatric medicine from the University of Manchester, UK (1997), respectively. He is currently a Reader in physiotherapy at the Department of Health Professions, Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care. Dr. Yohannes is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. He has authored or coauthored over 40 peer-reviewed research articles and four books chapters and presented his work over 50 papers at national and international conferences. He is an Associate Editor of the BMC Geriatrics. Dr. Yohannes designed and validated the Manchester Respiratory Activities of Daily Living Scale. His research interests include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in old age (mood disorders, anxiety, and depression), cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, models of geriatric care, for example,intermediate care, late life depression, and religion.
