Taras Valovka studied at Lviv National University in Ukraine, where he received his Ph.D. degree in molecular biology in 2001. He then moved to England to work at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR), and he gained a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry in 2003 from the University College London. After postdoctoral training at the University of Zurich, he worked as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Innsbruck and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2010. His expertise lies in the area of signaling mechanisms controlling normal and oncogenic gene expression. In particular, he is interested in the regulation of transcriptional responses mediated by the family of NF-kappaB transcription factors and their specific coregulator proteins.
