Philippe Espeau

Université Paris Descartes, France

Philippe Espeau is Associate Professor at the Faculty of pharmaceutical and biological Sciences of the University Paris Descartes (Paris, France). He has been Head of the university’s “Physical Chemistry of Drugs” research unit since January 2010. After a doctoral thesis on the study of phase change materials and phase diagrams, defended in 1995 at the University of Bordeaux, he held a post-doctoral position at the Research School of Chemistry of the Australian National University (Camberra), where he pursued research on the thermodynamics of the confinement of alkanes in porous graphite. In 1998, he joined the Faculty of pharmaceutical and biological Sciences of the University Paris Descartes and started working on the solid state of drugs. His current research focuses on the stability of the ingredients used to manufacture drugs and on the interactions between active ingredients and excipients in the solid state. The studies are carried out by thermal analyses, powder X-ray diffraction and thermodynamic assessment
