Jens Schittenhelm currently works as a Senior Neuropathologist at the Department of Neuropathology, Institute of Pathology and Neuropathology, University of Tüebingen, Tüebingen, Germany . His primary activities focus on neurooncology. His group conducts research on migration and invasion of glioma cells and aims at the identification of prognostic immunohistochemistry markers in translational neuropathology. Dr. Schittenhelm was trained at Medical School, University of Tübingen (Doctor of Medicine). He has conducted research on the molecular distributions of trinucleotide repeat expansion disorders at the Institute of Medical Genetics, University of Tübingen. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, he performed his research at the Institute of Brain Research, University Tüebingen until his board certification in neuropathology. After finishing his Habilitation degree, he was appointed as the Leader for neuropathology in the Ambulatory Healthcare Center. He is a Member of the European Society of Neuropathology, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neuropathologie und Neuroanatomie e.V. and Bundesverband der Pathologen e.V.
