Sergi Gallego graduated in physics, in 2001, from the University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain, and received the Ph.D. degree (with honors) from the University of Alicante, Alicante, Spain, in 2005. In 2001, he joined the Optics Department of the University of Alicante as a Predoctoral Researcher. He became an Assistant Professor, in 2004, and an Associate Professor in applied physics, in 2009, both in the Department of Physics, Systems Engineering and Signal Theory of the University of Alicante. He has visited as a Researcher the UCD School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, Ireland (2003 and 2005) and the Institut für Kristallographie of the Universität zu Köln, Germany (2010). His research is focused on holography, holographic recording materials (photopolymers, photorefractive materials, and holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals –HPDLC), LCDs for holographic applications, electromagnetic theory, holographic and diffractive optical elements, and holographic data storage. He coauthored one patent and more than seventy scientific publications on the above‐mentioned subjects in journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports (ISI) such as Optics Express, Applied Physics B, Optics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of the Optical Society of America B, Optical Materials, Journal of Lightwave Technology, Applied Optics, Materials, etc. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of Advances in Materials Science and Engineering, included in Journal Citation Reports, and he was one of the guest editors of the special issue entitled Advances in novel optical materials and devices published in Physics Research International. He is a Member of the Spanish Optical Society (SEDOPTICA), Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF), European Optical Society (EOS), and the international society for optics and photonics (SPIE).
