Toru Nagao is Division Chief and Director of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Okazaki City Hospital, and Associate Professor at Aichi-Gakuin University School of Dentistry, Japan. He obtained his D.D.S. degree in 1980, his Ph.D. degree in 1990 ,and his D.M.S. degree in 2006. Since 1999, he has been a Honorary Senior Research Fellow in oral medicine and experimental oral pathology at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Oral Cancer/Precancer and Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ Dental Institute, London, UK. He was dispatched in the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka from 2001 to 2003 as a Chief Advisor of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Dental Education Project financed by official development assistance. Recently he has been appointed as a Visiting Professor of preventive medicine, Fujita Health University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan. His main research interests include epidemiology and early detection and prevention of oral cancer/precancer. He published over 100 research papers in national and international journals.
