I am Assistant Professor (BSc, PhD) of Anatomy-Histology-Embryology, in Medical School, University of Ioannina, Greece. My current research activities are the Molecular Histology and Pathology of the Immune system, Respiratory and Urogenital system and the cytokine effects on the cell cycle and apoptosis of tumor cells. I was also trained at the Imperial College London, UK, in all phase of the cultures and maintenance of both murine and human embryonic stem cells, including the isolation and cultivation of murine embryonic fibroblasts, culture of murine and human embryonic stem cells and derivation of embryoid bodies. I have contributed to the research projects of 5 PhD students at Medical School and 2 MSc Degrees in collaboration with the Chemistry Department and I have 60 publications and communications in international journals. I have experience in organizing and managing research programs, since I have participated in projects that were completed successfully resulting in publications and communications in international journals. I am Head of the Histology I-Embryology I, Medical school University of Ioannina, Greece (2009-hitherto). PEER- REVIEWED ARTICLES (last three years) 1) V. Galani, et al.
