Glenn Hurlbert received his Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Rutgers University, USA, in 1990, under the direction of Ron Graham. He has been at Arizona State University since then, and is a President's Professor in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, having been Associate Chair from 2002 to 2004. He has held visiting positions at Dartmouth College, Vanderbilt University, the Johns Hopkins University, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the National University of La Plata, and the Institute for Defense Analyses. He is also a J. William Fulbright Scholar. His main areas of expertise are in graph pebbling, universal cycles, and extremal set theory, and he is the author of a textbook on linear optimization.
