Ting-Hua Yi works as a Professor at the Research Center for Structural Health Monitoring and Control, School of Civil Engineering, Dalian University of Technology (DUT), Dalian, China. He received his B.S. degree in civil engineering from the Yantai University, Yantai, China, in 2002, followed by a Ph.D. degree in disaster prevention and mitigation engineering from DUT in 2007. Then, he held a Postdoctoral position for three years (2007–2010) at the Tongji University, Shanghai, China, and worked as a Research Assistant for three months at the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (IZIIS), Skopje, Macedonia. Yi currently serves as a Key Member and Secretary for structural safety monitoring and control, Science Fund for Creative Research Groups of the NSFC, a Core Member and Correspondent for Program of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities, and a Key Member for destruction mechanism and safety assessment of engineering structures, Program for Changjiang Scholars and Innovative Research Team in University. In his career, he is selected in National Science Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars of China, Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University, Hong Kong Scholars Program, and so forth. Yi is mainly engaged in research work on structural health monitoring and safety assessment. He has served as a principal investigator for more than 20 international, national, state, and university funded projects; published one academic book and more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, including 70 peer-reviewed journal papers; edited two teaching books, 3 proceedings of international conferences, and 5 special issues of the international journal; participated in editing 2 regulations; obtained 9 China national invention patents and 2 computer software copyright registration certificates; and won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and several provincial S&T awards.
