Kazuo Hase

National Defense Medical College, Japan

Kazuo Hase was born in Hiroshima, Japan, in 1954. He received M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from National Defense Medical College, Tokorozawa, Japan, in 1981 and 1992, respectively. He was a Visiting Research Fellow of School of Medicine Stanford University, Stanford, Calif, USA, from 1990 to 1991. He was a Surgical Director of Japan Self-Defense Forces Central Hospital from 1997 to 2008. Presently, he is a Professor at the Department of Surgery, National Defense Medical College, Tokorozawa, Japan. He is mainly interested in coloproctology and pathology of gastrointestinal tract. He is a Member of the Society for Surgery of Alimentary Tract, International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Japan Surgical Society (councilor), Japan Society of Coloproctology (councilor), Japan Society of Clinical Oncology (councilor), Japan Society for Surgical Infection (councilor), and Japanese Gastric Cancer Association (councilor).
