Jacques Ripart

Jacques Ripart was born in 1962 in France. In 1980–1986, he was a medical student in Paris, in 1986–1992, he did his residency in anesthesia and intensive care in Montpellier-Nîmes, and, in 1992–1995, he was an assistant professor. Ripart was a Clinical Fellow at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Université de Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada in 1993-1994 and Staff Anesthesiologist at the University of Nîmes Hospital in 1995–2002. Ripart also holds an M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree. Since 2002, he is Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management, University Hospital of Nîmes, Nîmes, France, and Professor of anesthesia and intensive care at Medical School of Montpellier-Nîme, Montpellier 1 University, Montpellier, France. Ripart serves as a Member of Société Française d'Anesthésie et de Réanimation (since 1996) and Associate Member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (since 1998) and American Society of Anesthesiologists (since 1998). His areas of interest are regional anesthesia and analgesia, regional anesthesia learning, anatomy applied to regional anesthesia, ophthalmic anesthesia, obstetrics anesthesia and analgesia, acute pain treatment, inhalational anesthesia—xenon, and pharmacology of local anesthetics and toxicity.
