Ignacio Blanco

Ignacio Blanco holds the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. He is a specialist in general and digestive surgery and a clinical geneticist accredited by the Spanish Association of Human Genetics. He is currently the Director of the Cancer Genetic Counseling in the Catalan Institute of Oncology. His clinical work focuses on the identification and tracking of individuals and families with inherited predisposition to cancer. He has participated in the development of clinical guidelines, both national and international, for the management of most common hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes. He is the (co)author of over 90 articles in indexed journals. His main research focus is on identifying the molecular basis of hereditary cancer, the study of emotional impact of genetic counseling in cancer, and development of new methods for early diagnosis of cancer.
